Description: Leather grip, natural hickory shaft and dark clubhead. Spooned face. Repaired at toe. Horn insert and backweight.
Possibly altered horn insert. Repair to toe area of face. Marks where shaft stamp may have been cut off.
Repaired with wood pin in face, near toe. Crack running across toe and top edge of clubhead.

Marks/Inscriptions: MID SPOON by HUGH PHILIP, St. Andrews, Scotland, PERIOD 1820—1830, 10a (on card tied to shaft). Partial shaft stamps “JA___” and “__R__M_RIF”. Partial maker’s mark “H__P___P”.
Additional Notes: Hugh Philp used ash for shafts; thorn, apple and pear woods for heads.
Presumably fixed at Forgan & Sons who sold club to museum in 1934.
